Three Innovative New Middle School Science Courses Are Ready for Action!
NJCTL has posted complete materials for our new Physical Environment, Living Environment and Mathematical Physics Courses. These courses are designed for grades 6, 7 and 8. Each unit is structured around a different set of phenomena. Engaging real-world topics include Hurricanes, Cell Phones, and Biodiversity.
This new roll-out follows an extremely successful pilot year for all three new phenomena-based courses.
Teacher Andrew Ross writes, "I had the chance to use these new course materials with my 6th, 7th and 8th Graders this past year. Tying the complex ideas of the Next Generation Science Standards into observable phenomena makes the content more relatable to students. With big topics such as ‘How do Hurricanes form?’ ‘What causes Genetic Disorders?’ and ‘How does a Roller Coaster work?’ the class becomes less about a collection of facts and more about the story of our natural world... one in which the kids are anxious to hear the next chapter!"
