Thanks to a generous donation from the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), NJCTL is able to offer 15 grants, of up to $3,000 each, to support preservice teachers who would like to earn their New Jersey endorsement to teach chemistry, middle school mathematics, mathematics K-12 or physics.
This grant opportunity is for teacher preparation program graduates (under graduate, post bachelor or graduate) who hold a New jersey Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing in any instructional area. The grant is intended to cover the cost of tuition for the first phase (semester) of a specific NJCTL endorsement program. At the completion of the phase I coursework, the preservice teacher will be authorized to teach PSI Chemistry, PMI Middle School, PMI Algebra I, PMI Geometry or PSI Algebra-Based Physics (based upon the corresponding endorsement program enrollment). If/when the preservice teacher gets hired to teach in the endorsement area in which they have completed phase I coursework, they will have up to 12 months to complete the remaining coursework and pass the corresponding Praxis tests. If the teacher joins the NJEA upon gaining employment, they would become eligible for a 20% discount on the remaining NJCTL tuition for Phases 2, 3 and 4 (if applicable).
The deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2019. To apply complete the following requirements:
