Scholarships Available to Earn a Physics or Chemistry Endorsement Online
Open to all NJ Teachers
Act quickly; don't miss out on this great opportunity . . . the deadline for submission is Friday, May 12, 2017!
The New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) earlier announced that the donor that provided scholarships for the 2016-17 Physics Endorsement renewed that funding.
That has now been extended to include candidates for both CTL's Online Chemistry Endorsement and Online Physics Endorsement. Those scholarships are available to as many as four teachers in Essex, Bergen or Passaic County.
CTL has now used a generous donation from the Bayer USA Foundation to extend that offer to teachers in any New Jersey county.
Each scholarship provides up to $5000 towards the cost ($8250 for non-NJEA members; $6930 for NJEA members) of CTL's Online Physics or Chemistry Endorsement Program. The intent is to provide financial support to teachers who would pay for these courses out of their own pocket.
This program provides currently certified teachers, in any subject area, a New Jersey endorsement to teach physics or chemistry. Learn more about the programs here .
Join the CTL teacher empowerment movement by earning your physics or chemistry certification and opening on-ramps to STEM careers for students in your school.
The summer portion of the Program starts the week of May 15, 2017, and, we estimate that it will require about 270 hours to complete that portion prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year.
To apply for the scholarship, please submit the following by May 12th, 2017.
An application to our endorsement programs found here.
An essay of 500 words or less answering the question: "Why do you want to earn your physics/chemistry certification?"
A letter of recommendation from your principal or supervisor explaining why you would be a good candidate.
A letter from your principal committing to schedule you to teach at least one section of Algebra-Based Physics or Chemistry for the 2017-18 school year.
Completed essays and your letter of recommendation can be sent to info@njctl.org.
CTL is a nonprofit that is providing a simple, scalable solution for our nation's massive STEM teacher shortage and the great social injustice that comes from depriving underserved students access to STEM education and the important opportunities this learning provides.
CTL has become the #1 producer of physics teachers in the country and a leading producer of chemistry teachers. CTL training engages a racially and gender diverse pool of teachers who can serve as role models for their students.
Support for this initiative comes from The Celia Lipton Farris and Victor W. Farris Foundation Home Community Fund of the Community Foundation of New Jersey and the Bayer USA Foundation.
