As we begin a new year, we’re pleased to take a quick look back and share our proudest achievements in 2017. This work reflects meaningful collaboration with teachers and administrators; support from the NJEA, our sponsors and individual donors; and tireless effort by our staff and volunteers.
Over the past twelve months, CTL:
* Revised several curricula, including 1st grade math, 2nd grade math, 5th grade math, Algebra I, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus (1st semester) and AP Chemistry (1st semester).
* Provided a full range of resources to empower you and other teachers to effectively teach K-12 math and science to all students.
* Helped create more new physics teachers than any college in New Jersey. Many of these teachers have diverse backgrounds and serve as role models to minority students.
* Developed online physics and chemistry teacher certification courses to help reach any teacher, anywhere, anytime. (Find out what this chemistry endorsement candidate has to say about her CTL experience by clicking here.)
* Substantially increased the number of students able to take physics, helping to build their skills and self-esteem, and giving them the opportunity to pursue STEM careers. (Hear one student’s story by clicking here.)
* Translated into Spanish six units from Algebra I, as well as five Geometry units.
* Saw profound improvement in STEM achievement in underserved schools that have adopted CTL methods and curricula.
* Expanded our presence in Africa where our ELA, PSI® and PMI® materials have made a marked improvement on student learning.
