CTL brings English Lanugage Arts Materials to The Gambia

As we move into spring, we are excited to share with you the roll-out of our English Language Arts curriculum created for teachers and students of The Gambia in West Africa.

This spiral curriculum is being created to encompass grades 7 through 12 and spans writing and reading, with an emphasis on nonfiction. At each grade level, eight separate units are being created, including Language Study, Writing Components, Integrated Writing, Independent Writing, three Nonfiction Text units that address increasingly complex skills for students, and a unit on Literature and Literary Craft.

To date, many materials have been created for two grade levels: grade 7 and grade 10. Presentations, quizzes, and some teacher resources are being shared with educators by CTL staff in The Gambia in mid-April. After training, work will continue to complete creation of materials that includes feedback from this initial roll-out.
