Bayer USA Foundation Awards Center for Teaching and Learning $300,000 in Strategic Grant Funding

Grant Represents Bayer's Ongoing Commitment to STEM Education and Community

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL®) has received $300,000 in strategic grant funding from the Bayer USA Foundation - part of nearly $1.5 million that Bayer has given in grants for the first half of 2013 that support STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education as well as other social service and community development initiatives in several of Bayer’s major business communities in the U.S.

The funding will provide advanced training for New Jersey science and mathematics teachers who serve school districts with significant minority populations. The two-year grant will help to increase the number of students in New Jersey who have access to rigorous advanced science and mathematics courses such as physics and chemistry.

"This very generous grant not only illustrates that Bayer believes in the work CTL does, but also greatly facilitates that work," said Dr. Robert Goodman, CTL Executive Director. "Bayer is committed to creating STEM talent and they have shown a willingness to invest in the long-term."

The Bayer USA Foundation is an endowed 501(c)(3) entity with a programmatic focus on education and workforce development, and environment and sustainability. The foundation aligns its funding with Bayer AG’s global giving strategy for the promotion of science and society.
