Calendar math should be a short period of time set aside each day for the students to review daily math skills. The regular use of calendar math helps students development a strong number sense, flexibility, and fluency, which will support their performances on many mathematical tasks. The calendar math activities suggested in this presentation cover routine topics such as the calendar, days of the week, counting, time, money, weather, patterns, and graphing. Even though these topics are covered in other units, they also need to be addressed on an ongoing basis. The following slides are to be used as a guide. Please add additional skills as you feel your students are ready. Some teachers may also wish to use a bulletin board in their classroom in place of this presentation. If you choose to do so, still be sure to cover all of the topics addressed in this presentation. Calendar math should be fun and engaging!
