Slide 8-Example 1 says v=25 m/s but the solution uses v = 15 m/s. Slide 16-Example 1: Momentum of a System of Objects" is missing a (+) sign in the 2nd equation.

Thank you for the feedback - both of these are now correct in the posted presentation and PDFs.

"Problem solving", slide 106, says "Draw a sketch if necessary". I suggest dropping the words "if necessary". Either way, the Example problems do not include sketches. IMO, all example problems should include a sketch. Students need to practice modeling and multiple representations and we should model those practices. For example, Elastic Collisions, slide 96. ALso on Slide 96, knowns are given with +/- signs (they are vectors). The (+) sign is omitted in the answer. It should be there to reinforce that the final direction may be initially unknown, but the sign indicates the direction.

Matthew, we have the "if necessary," as that was a generic instruction for different problems, and a sketch is not always necessary - I'm thinking if you're given Force and area, and you're asked to calculate pressure, no sketch is necessary. I agree with you that most momentum problems benefit from a sketch. And, yes, slide 96 would be better with a positive sign in front of the answer to stress the vector nature. Certainly when you can teach vector math, that would show up as 17i and it wouldn't be a problem. John
